- Summary: Scenes of Lord Kitchener as Secretary of State for War, 1914-1916.
- Description: Kitchener, in civilian clothes, inspects a parade of Boy Scouts. Next he arrives by car in his blue Field Marshal's uniform to inspect a parade, probably of the London Regiment, outside the Guildhall. On March 1915, Kitchener stands on the steps in front of St George’s Hall, Liverpool, with local dignitaries including the Lord Mayor of the City of Liverpool John Edward Rayner, Alfred Bigland MP and General Sir Henry Mackinnon, GOC-in-C Western Command. Troops march past, including Bantams (?) with rolled coats over their shoulders. Kitchener, the Lord Mayor and General Mackinnon amongst others arrive at St George’s Hall (note the North Western Hotel in the background) watched by a large crowd. In France, February 1916, he inspects a British battalion drawn up in the snow. He shares a saluting base with King George V, and Generals Horne and Rawlinson, as British soldiers march past. He arrives by train at Compiègne station and is met by General Joffre, General Foch and Minister of War Millerand, at the start of his tour of the French Army 15th August 1915. On another part of the tour he talks with French officers while Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Wilson watches. Along with Joffre he watches French exercises from a training trench. The memorial service for Lord Kitchener at Saint Paul's Cathedral, Tuesday 13th June 1916. Cars arrive at the foot of the steps of Saint Paul's bringing the various dignitaries, including the King and Queen. (Thanks to a misplaced scene at this point, Kitchener appears to attend his own memorial service.)
