Summary: In celebration of Ethiopia regaining her independence, the film briefly recounts events from 1918 when Tafari Makkonen "set out to modernise his country"; his use of the title Haile Selassie I; the admission to the League of Nations.
Description: The Italian invasion of Ethiopia, the Commonwealth forces' reinvasion and Haile Selassie's return are briefly described. Of the Italians to be repatriated to Italy: "everything possible is done to help... this unhappy population". The signing of the Anglo-Ethiopian Agreement on January 31st 1942 by the Emperor and Major General Sir Philip Mitchell is shown, and the words of the British plenipotentiary are heard: "this year marks the liberation of your country", soon it is to be hoped all countries "that lie in the bondage of the aggressor" will be liberated.
