The retaking of Stalingrad is planned by Lieutenant-General Batov, Artillery Marshal Voronov, and General Rokossovsky. The fighting concentrates in the city streets. The Germans surrender, groups emerging from the ruins carrying white flags. Over 90,000 prisoners are taken, including 24 Generals. Among them are Lieutenant-General Von Daniels of the 376th Infantry Division, Lieutenant-General Sanne of the 100th Division, Brigadier-General Dimitriu of the 20th Rumanian Infantry Division, Lieutenant-General Schlemmer of the 14th Tank Corps, Major-General Von Drebber of the 297th Infantry Division, Lieutenant-General Rinoldi of the 6th Army Medical Corps. Soviet General Tolbukhin meets Von Daniels at his HQ, and interrogates Field Marshal Paulus and his Chief of Staff, General Schmidt.
