There are stills and film of many swing-bridges on the Yorkshire Ouse; at Goole, opened 1867; Drax; Selby; Naburn, opened 1871; Skeldergate (lifting bridge); Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Preceding this there is film of the water-tower at Grimsby which supplies hydraulic power for the port. and a hydraulic 2-ton crane at New Holland. The film emphasises the long life and reliability of these structures and mechanisms, eg. Naburn swing bridge "opened 1871, and has the original machines in the centre pier."
