Summary: Amateur film shot by Flight Lieutenant McKenna (later Squadron Leader), while serving as liaison officer to German expedition investigating effects of high altitude for aviation research. The films record scenes during the climb in the Punjab Himalaya, Northern India, (present day Pakistan). Members of the German scientific team include aviation medicine specialist Dr Ulrich Luft and Dr Bruno Balke.
Description: Scenes around base camp of supplies laid out and the expedition preparing. Shot of two men chatting, one (Bechtold?) holding a camera. The Union Jack and a triangular flag flying on the same flagpole. Group portrait of the expedition team. Major Galbraith and Dr and Mrs Atkinson visit base camp. Supplies are loaded onto a Lufthansa Junkers Ju 52 at Srinagar aerodome. Women and children stand by and watch. Shot of the plane (D-AWBR) with a German Swastika on the tail. An engineer checks the tyres and her propellers are started. Aerial views of the Nanga Parbat from the plane. [These scenes were filmed after the expedition party had returned from the mountain, and are therefore out of chronological order.]
