Summary:Amateur films shot by George Gothard, a master butcher, between 1938 and 1947 recording his family's life in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, during the Second World War.
Description:i) 'Splashes of Colour': Mrs Marjorie Gothard (wife of George Gothard and mother of Guy and George junior) relaxes at home. Includes a number of shots of some spectacular looking home grown carnations, and of Marjorie, an accomplished pianist, playing the family piano.
ii) 'Making a Wellington': George Gothard helps his sons put together and paint a model Wellington bomber (HC-B, 229 Squadron). George Gothard junior recalls how putting together model aircraft like these brought home to him and his brother what the model's real life counterparts were being used for.
