Summary:Amateur films shot by George Gothard, a master butcher, between 1938 and 1947 recording his family's life in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, during the Second World War.
Description:i) 'Caravan Holidays': The Gothard family go on holiday to Yorkshire resort of Filey with their new caravan. Scenes include the Gothard boys participating in outdoor activities with other children, and playing with a former RAF rescue dinghy purchased by their father after the war. Note the anti-invasion blocks still visible on the beach (these concrete blocks were placed along beachfronts around the country in an attempt to thwart enemy tanks in the event of an invasion).
ii) 'Scarborough Baths': The Gothard family enjoy themselves in the open air swimming pool at Scarborough Baths.
