- Summary: Film of Alfred Becker's artillery units on the move in France, on the way to the eastern front and scenes at their billet in Russia.
- Description: (Section 1) Opening title claims that the battery is preparing to leave for the East, but the following sequence shows Batterie Nr.1 of Sturmgeschütz Abteilung 200 (created in mid 1943) entraining for a move in France in late 1943. Self-propelled guns and motor transport are driven on to railway flatcars and over timbers beams between the cars to their allotted position. A member of the unit with an injured foot is seen being helped away. As the steam locomotive pulls the train out of the station most of the train's load can be seen - along with the men in carriages there are (roughly) five FCM 7.5 PAK anti-tank 'Panzerjäger', eight FCM 10.5 leFH 16 self-propelled guns, two ammunition carriers based on Vickers light tanks ('Munipanzers'), a Unic 2cm Flak 38 half track (with unit members standing by on flak duty), a saloon car, three Laffly field cars, three Citroën lorries (one converted into a mobile field kitchen) and several trailers. (Section 2) Title states that the battery is entrained ready for the East, and the following film shows the vehicles Nr.15 Batterie of Artillerie Regiment 227 in mid-1941 on railway flatcars for transport to the Eastern front. Among the vehicles are Vickers 10.5cm leFH self-propelled guns and Bren-gun carriers serving as supply carriers ('Munipanzers'). The unit's troops are seen taking a hot meal from the mobile kitchen on one of the flatcars and generally relaxing prior to departure. A group photograph of apparently the entire unit is set up, with the battery commanding officer, Becker, and some of his officers standing to one side. (Section 3) Artillerie Regiment 227 move up to the Leningrad sector of the front along a dusty road in Autumn 1941. The equipment belonging to Becker's command, which consists almost entirely of captured vehicles from the May-June 1940 campaign in the Low Countries and France, include motorcycle combinations, Dutch and Belgian artillery tractors, a Renault UE 'Schlepper', a Vickers light tank converted into a command/radio carrier, Vickers tanks converted into self-propelled guns. Also seen are British lorries, and a French Laffly field car with a twin MG34 Flak mounting fitted. A brief shot shows a small cemetery nearby with the graves of two Waffen-SS soldiers. (Section 4) Assorted scenes showing 15/AR 227 during service in Russia 1941-42. A still shot shows a scattering of log cottages on the outskirts of Mga where Becker's unit was billeted. A Russian peasant couple (apparently filmed at the same time as section 3 above) walk past the camera. Film shows a white painted Soviet KV-1 tank. Titles introduce some of the officers of the battery (though not necessarily with any obviously matching film); Leutnant Foerster is seen with the rest of 15/AR 227 during the entrainment for the East in mid-1941, followed by a still of a group of Becker's men around a captured Soviet 4.5cm anti-tank gun at Mga in the winter. A group of men are seen around one of the Vickers leFH 10.5cm self-propelled guns (probably from the same time as section 3 above). Some tanks (possibly of 12. Panzer Division) pass by. (Section 5) The final part of the reel consists of Ufa newsreel sequences covering the opening stages of the German invasion of Russia.
