Scenes of Honley Field Day, plus unrelated footage of the local fire brigade, ducks, a bride on her way to her wedding and an unidentified young child.
Description: Opening title "Golcar Civic Sunday May 7th 1943". Shots of a parade along a street. Policemen at the head of the parade, followed by a small brass band, civic dignitaries and a contingent of the RAF. Brief shot of two male civic dignitaries wearing their chains of office (the man on the left is Joe Lockwood, Chairman of the Holmfirth Urban District Council and the camerawoman's father). Honley Field Day, Honley, West Yorkshire, probably 1943. Small group of adults in fancy dress standing in a field with a large crowd visible in the background. Shots of various parade floats - Washpit Trade Show lorry "what goes on in Washpit" with a brief view a poster advertising wool inside one door, Baddeley Bros of Holmfirth lorry with carrying with small children with the sign "suffer little children to come unto me", flat-back removal lorry laden with Cubs some carrying a pennant flags with a country name (the names of the Allies?) one boy to the rear of the lorry makes a "V" sign hand gesture to the camera, impressive covered float depicting the nursery rhyme "there was an old woman who lived in a shoe...", another flat-back removal lorry laden with Brownies, a float carrying several small children in national costumes (two of the children have "blacked-up" faces), a further shot of the "old women who lived in a shoe" float and a float covered in flowers. Children's fancy dress competition. Brief shots of horse jumping in a gymkhana competition. Brief shot of firemen testing their fire fighting equipment near Washpit Mill. Two adult ducks, several dark shots of numerous ducklings and a brief shot of a duckling in the palm of a woman's hand. Dolly Pickering in her wedding dress, accompanied by her father, Sam Pickering in a sergeant's uniform, leave a house. Shot of the bride, her father and an unidentified bridesmaid getting out of a car and walking towards the camera (in to a church?). Brief close-up shot of a very young child in the arms of a young woman.
