Summary: French newsreel of the area and aftermath of the Battle of Noyon in the Advance to Victory, Western Front, August 1918.
Description: Some men of IX Corps emerge from a command post dugout in the recently captured German trench system before Roye. Views of Roye itself with X Corps troops clearing away the rubble, showing the Montdidier end of the town and the first train coming into the station. Infantry reinforcements making their way over open ground to the front. The town of Chaulnes, captured by XXXVI Corps, with most of the rubble cleared away, but extensive damage. The town square at Nesle, captured by XXXI Corps on 20th August. A patrol of Spahi Cavalry dismounted and resting with their horses in a ravine. A railway cutting near Lassigny with dead Germans lying across the tracks. A pan over Noyon, captured by XV Corps, followed by detailed views. The Rue de Paris shows extensive damage and signs warn that the road is mined. One soldier demonstrates how to defuse an unexploded shell while sappers repair craters in the roads. The cathedral at Noyon shows heavy damage.
