Description: «RFA Stromness» - "a floating supermarket for the Royal Navy" - sets off from Portland on her trials. The new vessel carries its extensive cargo on pallets using mechanical handling equipment to move it top move them for maximum efficiency. Wessex helicopter brings pallet of supplies which is taken below deck by Lansing Bagnall forklift truck. Activities below deck, showing more forklifts and pallet transporters at work. The tanker «RFA Black Ranger» (A163) and the frigate «HMS Undaunted» (F53) come alongside and a jackstay transfer of supplies is carried out; close shots of Lansing Bagnall's Rapide forklift being used to transport the pallets. Later, a second jackstay transfer is shown, this time between «Stromness» and the frigate «HMS Gurkha» (F122).
