Summary: A captioned amateur film, predominately colour, shot and edited by Rosie Newman, featuring aspects of life on the British Home Front in the early years of the Second World War, including unique footage of the London Blitz and coverage of some of the activities of the three armed services to which Miss Newman arranged unprecedented access and permission to film. Description: Reel One includes footage of the following; "J" zone, London District Home Guard in training 5 January 1941, excellent day and night shots of the London Blitz 1941 (probably April), scenes at Foxwarren Park, Hever Castle, oast houses in Kent, St Albans Cathedral, Ickworth House, patients at Rushbrooke Auxiliary Hospital Bury St Edmunds 3 May 1942, brief scenes at the Scottish National Institute For Blinded Sailors, Blenheim House, North Berwick, Scotland, September 1941, footage of the work of the British Prisoner of War Funds including the Daily Sketch War Relief Fund located at Farnham Park and Lumberjacks at work at the British Honduras Camp Haddington, Lothian, Scotland, September 1941.
Reel Two includes footage of the following; Indian troops training and in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, August 1941, Canadian troops on exercise, Bordon, Hampshire 1-2 July 1941, a barrage balloon site (probably London), aircraft manufacture at the Phillips and Powis factory, Reading, Berkshire, 27 August 1941, visit to a spitfire squadron (RCAF Squadron 412) RAF Digby 21+22 August 1941, footage of WRNS, Portsmouth, June 1941 and substantial footage shot on board «HMS Berkeley» (L.17) out of Portsmouth 27 June 1941.
