Summary: Moulds for the production of the Hands of Victory are prepared at Edward Lawrence Studios, Midhurst, Sussex.
Description: Final preparations of the fine details of sculpture by hand. In a workshop is a full-sized mould of the sword hilt; scale models and full size finished item. In the foundry, sand is prepared for the casting, as the interior of the mould is coated. Builder's bag of sand is attached to a winch and moved in place over the mould where it is poured in. Sections of already-completed bronze mouldings are brushed clean as a fire is started under the latest mould. The mouldings are treated using a blowtorch.
