Summary: Sections of the hand for the first of the four Hands of Victory are cast in bronze at the foundry.
Description: Sections of the mould taken from the fibreglass patterns are placed in a large metal casting frame. Sand (some of it fused together by the casting process) is cleared away. Bronze is heated in a giant metal cauldron. The mould is sealed after being assembled, and final adjustments are made by craftsmen. Further shots of cauldron. Completed cast of a section is removed from frame. The rear of the section has metal struts for the assembly, and is encrusted with sand, solidified by the casting process; this is removed using a pneumatic drill.
