Summary: Film commemorates the destruction of Warsaw's 500,000 Jews by cross-cutting between present day scenes of normality ("under this same sky") with archival films and stills (with superimposed sound) of the horrific images shot by Germans ("how do they dare look?") of the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto.
Description: Over optimistic scenes of Polish children playing and modern housing the refrain is heard "Under this same sky -- there was once no such hope", cutting to stills of atrocities in the Warsaw Ghetto. History of the Ghetto is sketched from double evidence of German and Jewish chroniclers, from Hans Frank's command of 12/9/1940 ordering bricking up of 500,000 Jews to the Revolt of April 1943, over film and stills of the deteriorating conditions inside the Ghetto (with sound effects added) and deportations by train (cut to present, children off on a bus outing). Coverage of Revolt includes German film of their suppression of Warsaw Uprising of August 1944, Himmler shaking hands with SS and ends with pans (r to l, l to r) over razed city at end of war (Jewish lament on track).
