Description: Mould for the thumb is encased in a square frame which is winched over it; other moulds are joined elsewhere in the workshop. Top part of thumb mould is lowered gently and slowly over the bottom part. Meanwhile, a bucket is filled with molten metal. Impurities are scraped from the top of the metal before the bucket is winched into place over the mould and the metal is poured. Some of the molten bronze leaks out of the bottom of the mould and is covered with sand to cool it. General views of the foundry, and of the metal spillage as it cools.
