Other titles:PRODUCTION OF HANDS OF VICTORY MONUMENT IN BAGHDAD FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Parts of the sculptures are loaded onto lorries at Morris Singer.
Description: Preparation of section of the hand containing the knuckles; this is winched onto a pallet and moved into the yard. This takes some time due to the awkward shape of the piece.
Inside the foundry, molten metal is prepared in a cauldron and poured into a bucket, which is then winched into position over a mould and poured. The left-over metal is decanted back into the cauldron. (These moulds are unidentified.)
Back in the yard, the knuckle section is moved onto the back of the lorry by crane. View of loading bay, which now contains very few parts of the hand. On the back of the lorry, the knuckle section is secured in place (the lorry already contains one of the sword hilts). Brief discussion with foundryman Steve as to the methods of stabilising the hand on the lorry.
