Title:SCENES OF NATIONAL SERVICE LIFE AT RAF WEST RAYNHAM [Allocated Title]
Film Number:MGH 6830
Other titles:AMATEUR FILM BY BOB DEARBERG [Alternative Title]
Summary: Amateur record filmed by Bob Dearberg while serving in the RAF as a National Serviceman captures the atmosphere of his fellow servicemen inside their accommodation hut at RAF West Raynham, whiling away the time in conversation and typing letters home to girlfriends.
Description: The entire film is shot in the interior of the hut, where the men have their beds. Various people enter and exit, and routine activities are shown: men talking, smoking cigarettes, reading newspapers and letters, resting. Extended sequence shows a moustachioed, pipe-smoking man typing letters while alone in the hut; close ups of his face. Other servicemen enter the hut. Two of them have a mock wild west "shoot-out" using their fingers as guns; one of the men falls down "dead". Routine activities. The men then go to bed, dressed in their pyjamas; lights are turned out.
