Description: Reel 1: (Can marking: Royal Malay Regiment - Presentation of Sword of Honour to Malay Officers, August 1936. Royal Navy at Port Dickson, Dec 1936.) Ships include HMS Decoy ((H75) visiting from China Station in first quarter of 1937 and a submarine marked RB on the conning tower (possibly Rainbow Class). Opening of Kallang Aerodrome at Singapore by Sir ShentonThomas, Governor of the Straits Settlements, on 12 June 1937, followed by an air display. Civilian and military aircraft on the ground and in flight include a Hillson Praga (G-AEPL), Armstrong Whitworth Atalanta (G-ABTJ), Avro Cierva Mk.IVP (VR-SAR) and a flying boat (demonstrating the dual air-sea capability of the new airfield).
