Summary: Amateur film shot by Vernon Clark, a Borough Councillor from Boston (Lincolnshire), records colonial troops outside Buckingham Palace, and fellow civilian spectators watching the Naval Review at Spithead on Thursday 20 May 1937, as part of the national and British Empire celebrations of the Coronation of King George VI on 12 May 1937.

"Royal Naval Review at Spithead, May 20th". "Passing through the lines": black and white footage of ships of the fleet taken from various angles. Colour: scenes taken from civilian steamer show various small craft passing, including yachts, a speedboat and a patrol boat. (Main fleet is in the distance.) Men swim in small pool on the steamer. On the deck is a large table full of highly decorated cakes. "Tea on Deck". tea and slices of cake are distributed to civilians sat at small tables on the aft deck. (Waiters are dressed in navy-style uniforms.) "The Royal Yacht": HMY Victoria and Albert III sails past. B&W: sunset shots of the fleet. Ships illuminated at night with thousands of small lights (very abstract looking, almost like paintings). Searchlights illuminate the sky and surrounding area, throwing some vessels into silhouette. Colour: firework display. B&W: daylight shots of various ships in the review, including the Japanese cruiser Ashigawa, the French battleship Dunkerque, the Soviet battleship Marat, HMY Victoria and Albert III, USS New York and numerous ships of the Royal Navy fleet (including cruisers, aircraft carriers and smaller vessels).
