Summary: Navy Instructional film intended to inform all rates and ranks of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Women's Royal Naval Service of the outcome of the Armed Forces pay review, carried out by the National Board for Prices and Incomes. This was laid down in a White Paper entitled 'Standing Reference on the Pay of the Armed Forces'. The film takes the form of a panel discussion, chaired by Bill Richardson. The panel consists of Rear Admiral J E L Martin, Director-General of Personnel Services and Training, Captain PG Cranefield RN, of the Legal Service Conditions Department, Lieutenant T Lewin RM, from the Office of the Commandant General Royal Marines, Chief Petty Officer E Urry, of the Second Sea Lord's Personal Liaison Team, and Mr A W Easson, a civilian working for the Royal Navy Pay Division. The panel answer questions from a studio audience made up of service personnel, and questions from sailors onboard the Leopard Class frigate HMS Leopard (F.14), Leander Class frigate HMS Charybdis (F.75) and an unidentified submarine. Subjects covered include accommodation, allowances, food, pensions, submarine and aircrew pay, leave, and equal pay and conditions for women.
