Film Number:A70 165-4
Other titles:
Summary: Infantry and artillery units drive through Eindhoven to reinforce 30th Corps' efforts to break through to the 1st Airborne Division in Oosterbeek.
Description: Small groups of Dutch civilians wave to men of the 5th Battalion Dorset Regiment as they ride on DUKW amphibious trucks through the town past gutted and blackened buildings, the result of a Luftwaffe air raid on the night of September 19th. Sexton self-propelled guns from either the 86th or 147th Field Regiments RA roll past burnt-out jeeps and trucks belonging to a Guards Armoured Division rear-echelon convoy. A Mack tractor and 'Long Tom' gun and an OP carrier, all from the 52nd Heavy Regiment RA, and a 5th Dorsets' Loyd carrier, pass a group of waving and cheering townspeople. A crowd of Dutch children gather round a 5th Dorsets bagpiper in 130th Brigade's leaguer outside Grave.
