Summary: The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) demonstrate at the Chemical Defence Experimental Establishment at Porton Down.
Description: (Reel 1) 0-100 A. Group of demonstrators stand at the barrier at the Winterslow Rd entrance to establishment. Various placards are displayed, including "We protest against cruel experiments on animals at Porton" and "If you want a healthy nation, stop vivisection". BUAV banners are also held aloft. Police stand behind the barrier and watch. Demonstrators disperse and leave the area in a fleet of cars and small vans (including one in full BUAV livery). Views from moving car of local roads and buildings inside and outside the establishment.
100-200 B. Departure of the last of the demonstrators in their vehicles. Village policemen (one on a bicycle) escort them. Views from moving car showing the country roads around Porton and its ranges. Huts in the establishment are passed; some appear to be derelict. Further views of the complex and its buildings are seen; the image is sometimes blurred due to the speed of the camera vehicle and the proximity of some of the buildings.
