Summary: "This film records movements of aircraft within a 150 mile radius of Start Point at selected periods between 2325 hr 5 June 1944 and 1011 hr 8 June 1944. The record was made by taking pictures of the PPI of the MEW radar at approximately one minute intervals. One hour's air activity is presented here in 20 seconds." (Opening Titles)
Description: The area covered by the radar includes southern England, the Channel, Cherbourg peninsula and Brittany: each section of film is preceded by a hand-written board giving date, time and shot number. Quality of film varies from excellent to poor (dark), and the aircraft movements show up rather jerkily (see Notes); the film conveys, however, a good idea of flight paths (eg avoiding of Channel Islands, and near-circular courses flown by some sorties) and different intensities of action at different times. "Although taken with a pocket camera, these pictures indicate what could be obtained with special gear." (Closing Titles).
