Description: I. A 155mm 'Long Tom' gun detachment belonging to 52nd (Bedfordshire Yeomanry) Heavy Regiment RA is seen in action near Abbaye Mondaye during a bombardment on Hottot.
II. In Bayeux, MPs on point duty direct the constant flow of traffic through the city; among the vehicles seen here are Bedford MW 15-cwt trucks, Mack EH 5-ton cargo lorries, Dodge 3-ton cargo lorries and tipper lorries, Fordson WOT2 15-cwt trucks and WOT6 3-ton lorries, a Bedford MWC water truck and an M5 half-track. The wheels of CMP 3-ton lorries heading east along the four-mile long bypass around Bayeux constructed by 7th Army Troops RE are seen passing over a road surface consisting of Sommerfeld metal tracking and chespaling road. Two Bedford OY lorries lead a convoy of 2-tonners heading west across "Pangbourne Bridge", which comprises two single-span Class 40 Bailey bridges designed to cope with two-way traffic; note sappers at work laying a petrol pipeline alongside the by-pass.
