Description: Smoke shells fired from 43rd Division's own artillery and corps artillery burst on the limestone cliffs above Vernonnet overlooking the river. In the late afternoon of August 26th, troop-carrying vehicles and marching infantry cross the Seine over the 650-foot long Class 9 Folding Boat bridge built by 43rd Division's engineers while troops belonging to 214th Brigade (either 5th DCLI or 7th Somerset Light Infantry) pick their way over the broken spans of the bombed road bridge. The cameraman scans the north bank of the Seine at Vernonnet which is dominated by limestone cliffs.
