Summary: Etela, an actress from Sarajevo living as a refugee in London for over two years, writes to her fellow actors in Sarajevo.
Description: Brief shots of London streets. Etela explains that she is a refugee from Sarajevo who has been living in London almost two and a half years. She says that in that time she has changed address thirteen times and yet her “spiritual baggage” is still unpacked. She says that she keeps on listening to the news, hoping to hear that the war has come to an end. She says that she was hoping to see a performance of Haris Pašović’s ‘Silk Drums’ but it was cancelled - “politics again” (Pašović is a Bosnian theatre director who ran Sarajevo’s international theatre festival during the war as well as taking shows on tour).
Shots of London including Baker Street tube station and the Euston Road. She says that London is ok, there is no shooting, there is water, electricity and enough food but it is not enough. Addressing her colleagues, she admits that she envies them because they have sominthing that she will never have. They have a feeling of belonging, that makes life make sense because they are fighting for something. She says that as actors in Sarajevo, they are persistently doing a job they love most and that their art is very important for the city and all those who love the city. She says “I admire you and I am proud of you”. She looks forward to the day when they see each other again in Sarajevo.
