Description: The film opens with a brief interior shot of a engine factory and then cuts to the office of the works manager of the Northern Armaments Factory who is on the telephone trying to make an urgent trunk call on vital war work business. He is told by the telephone operator that there is an hour delay for calls to London "all lines engaged". View of telegraph poles and telephone lines followed by a montage of images of civilians making unimportant social telephone calls. The works manager tries again and is told that he will have to wait another 20 minutes as "all lines engaged".
