Description: I. "London Welcomes her newest citizen." Supreme Allied Commander Eisenhower, accompanied by his deputy Air Chief Marshal Tedder, arrives at Temple Bar by car and then proceeds to Guildhall in an open horse-drawn carriage past cheering crowds. Churchill and his wife receive Eisenhower on the steps of the Guildhall where he receives the Freedom of the City, being handed the Duke of Wellington's sword as a token. After a brief speech ("When the British Empire Stood alone..."), Eisenhower continues to Mansion House where he speaks from the balcony to a large appreciative audience ("I am now a Londoner myself"), thanking all Londoners for having shown such hospitality to American servicemen an looking forward to a cementing of bonds between the United Nations. Churchill steps forward to reply: "You have just listened to the words of a great commander."
