Summary: Some aspects of the wartime work of the Salvation Army, presented in story format.
Description: A sailor boards a London train in Edinburgh, going to rejoin his ship; he is worried that his young daughter is hospitalised, and there is no way he will be able to learn the results of an operation before his ship sails. An officer of the Salvation Army, who runs a canteen on the train, talks to him, and during the stop at York, arranges for the SA to find out the girl's condition and get a message to the London St. Pancras hostel, where the sailor learns that all is well. Besides the central story, the film also shows the Salvation Army resting rooms at York Station where servicemen can sleep until called for their trains; an SA girl giving packed lunch to the train driver and some indication of the facilities (showers, recreation, canteen etc) at the St. Pancras hostel.
