Summary: This is a report on impact of war for civilians on both sides. Many are living as refugees and the responsibility has fallen on UNPROFOR to provide shelter and aid for these people.
Description: Shots of faces, Serbs and Croats, these are the victims of war. The report shows that both Croat and Serbs have been displaced by warfare and are now refugees, living in temporary shelters. At a refugee centre, Serb refugees are disappointed with the UN, one woman says “big leaders make the decisions not the little people, there’s suffering on both sides among the little people”. Cedric Thornberry has visited this centre and tells the refugees that UNPROFOR are doing everything they can. In an interview, he says that those that make war should spend time with the displaced to see the effects of their actions.
Elsewhere, Croat refugees are living under the protection of KENBAT. These people have been displaced since the 22nd of January and they are very grateful that KENBAT have provided them with shelter and protection from looting. Around Knin, UNCIVPOL has been working on the distribution of humanitarian aid. Shots of refugees in cramped conditions, the distribution of aid and serving food. Life is difficult for these people, they have lost their homes and livelihood and their future is uncertain.
