- Summary: I. Queen Mary visits the Tank Corps. II. Alderman Charles Hanson becomes Mayor of London. III. Woolwich Arsenal lose a football match against Chelsea. IV. French troops stage a historic tableau.
- Description: I. 'QUEEN AMONG THE TANKS. Wonderful of Her Majesty inspecting a Tankodrome in France.' Queen Mary stands with the usual retinue by a line of Mk IV tanks - it is a sunny day and she holds a parasol. Soldiers demonstrate the function of the Gun Carrier Tank, pulling down the ramp along which the gun will be hauled onto the vehicle. 'THE KING'S GREETING. The King and the Prince of Wales waited for the return of the Queen from the Tanks. Their Majesties greeting was charming to witness.' Preceded by her lady in waiting the Queen gets out of car to be greeted by the King - he kisses her on the right cheek. Staff officers hover about waiting to be introduced. The Prince of Wales, standing in the background, is kissed by the Queen before she goes inside. II. 'LORD MAYOR ELECT. With an ancient ceremony Alderman Chas. Hanson was made London's fourth War Lord Mayor elect. The Procession leaving the Guildhall.' A coach pulls up and the Mayor and officers holding the regalia get out. Procession of liverymen of the various guilds pass the camera. III. 'WOOLWICH ARSENAL LOSE AT HOME. The Arsenal defeated for the first time this season, Chelsea winning at Highbury by the only goal scored.' Teams run out from the stadium onto the field. MSs from near one of the goals as the game is played before a large crowd. IV. 'THE MAID OF FRANCE. French troops found time after a bitter battle to organise a quaint costume fete in honour of Joan-of-Arc.' While soldiers stand watching a military band leads a procession of men in mock-medieval costume, including crossbowmen and mounted soldiers with spears. Joan of Arc rides past holding a lance, her horse led by a groom - beneath helmet and breastplate she appears to be genuinely female. MSs of the watching crowd - many of them wear the berets and carry the walking sticks characteristic of French Alpine infantry.
