- Description: I. 'WOMEN AS GUARD OF HONOUR. General Sir Francis Lloyd at the opening of the Recruiting Hut in Trafalgar Square for the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps popularly known in France as the "Waxs".' Preceded by a (male) military band, uniformed WAACs march along street. WAAC guard of honour lines either side of a red carpet as General Lloyd gets out of his car. Lloyd inspects ranks of WAACs. II. 'WILL THERE BE WOMEN M.P.s.? Mrs Pankhurst, "General" Drummond Miss Christabel Pankhurst and Miss Kenny (sic) met with wild enthusiasm at the meeting held at Queens Hall to found a Womens Parliamentary Party.' MSs of a crowd of women - and a few men - standing outside the Hall. The party founders (minus Miss Kenney) arrive by car and go inside. MCU pan left to right over standing group - Miss Christabel Pankhurst, Miss Annie Kenney, Mrs Flora Drummond and Mrs Emily Pankhurst. III. 'KING AND QUEEN IN THE WEST. Their Majesties continuing their tour of Industrial Centres visited Bristol. The King held an Investiture on Durdham Downs.' HM and senior military officers leave after a visit to a Soldier's Rest House in Victoria Street. The King inspects local troops. Crowds lining the route wave at the royal car as it passes - a policeman runs forward to control the crowd's enthusiasm. Cut to platform set up on Durdham Downs - the Queen is seated as the King talks to Captain Buchanan who has just received the Victoria and Military Crosses. After a Royal hand-shake the blinded Captain is led off the platform by an attendant. He is succeeded by Lance Corporal Room. Cut to LA.LS past the seated Queen Mary to HM, now chatting with a nurse - she curtseys to the King and then to the Queen as she leaves, to be followed by another nurse. IV. 'LORD MAYORS WAR PAGEANT. London enjoyed a great military spectacle in this years Lord Mayors Show. Thousands of troops Women Volunteers and "All Clear" scouts taking part.' Women farm workers march along street - a hay cart is part of the procession. WAACs follow. The Mayoral coach passes. 'TANK'S TRIUMPH IN LONDON. Tremendous cheering greeted the appearance of a shell battered Tank which had fought many a hard fight against the Germans in France.' A male and a female Mk IV tank - neither noticeably battered - move along a street past crowds of onlookers. MS as the Mayor leaves his coach preceded by bearers carrying sword and mace.
