Summary: UNTV films reactions from Serb occupied territory in Croatia to the Croatian decision not to renew UNPROFOR's mandate.
Description: UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali fears war would result if UNPROFOR had to withdraw from Croatia following President Tudman's decision not to renew UNPROFOR's mandate. In Knin, UNTV spoke to people and found that they were largely in favour of UNPROFOR, believing that it had played a positive role in stopping large scale war. A few people did not hold this opinion but only one agreed to be filmed. He said that the sooner UNPROFOR left the better so that the Bosnians and Croatians could solve their own problems.
The leadership of Knin was absent during filming. Martina Balazova interviewed Colonel Rade Tanjga, Defence Minister for the "Krajina", who said that his side will do their best to find political solution without war but that they will protect their own position. Boundaries needed to be fixed to avoid war. In the market place of Knin, residents seem resigned to the fact that a peaceable solution would take time but made it clear that peace was the most important pre-condition.
