II. 'M. CLEMENCEAU IN ALSACE. The French War Minister visits Alsace where he receives a hearty welcome and embraces veterans of 1870.' Clémenceau embraces and kisses some young girls who are wearing Alsatian dress, inspects a guard of honour, shakes hands with civic dignitaries (?), embraces an Elderly veteran, accepts a bouquet from a young girl.
III. 'AMERICAN TROOPS IN FRANCE. American troops hurried to the base to take their part in the expected offensive.' LA.MS as train passes diagonally right to left carrying light artillery - French 75's - on open wagons and troops in boxcars. MS as heavily burdened troops disembark from train and fall in with their kit. 'U.S.A. ARTILLERY. New American guns arriving on the French Front.' Men lead horses down ramps from railcars. A limber is manhandled up to a gun. LS over column forming up and on the march.
IV. 'DESERT WARFARE. Erecting a sandbag observation post in Mesopotamia.' Soldiers sit about the base of an elaborate sandbag observation tower. Sandbags are hauled up an improvised wooden chute to be added to the tower's ramparts.
