Summary: The re-opening of the Croatian portion of the Zagreb-Belgrade highway is the first tangible result of the economic agreement between Zagreb and the Krajina Serbs. This public information film looks at how the UN security system will function along the road. UNCIVPOL will pay a major role.
Description: Shots of the highway. Interview with Captain Bourasso, Sector Engineer, Sector West. He says that their main tasks are to remove the barricades, to co-ordinate with the Serbs and Croats to remove their barricades and to make sure the highway is trafficable. Shots of UNPROFOR engineers moving the barricades.
Interview with Inspector Chris Bothe, Deputy Commissionar UNCIVPOL, who says that there will be 150 UNCIVPOL monitors along the highway to ensure the safety of road users twenty-four hours a day.

Chris Bothe says that there will be a very dense police presence along the highway and so people should feel confident in using the road.
Interviews with road users. One man says that they will be able to get to Zagreb in an hour and at the moment it takes three to four hours. Another man says that the highway will be useful for them as long as UNPROFOR escorts them and then they would have better links with the Krajina, eastern Slavonia. One man working at a pretrol station says that they will certainly be selling more petrol.
