Summary: The head of the Jewish Community in Belgrade addresses this message to Jakob, his colleague and friend in the Sarajevo Jewish Community.
Description: Brane Popovic sits in his study at his computer. He gives his message sitting outside in the Kalemegdan, a fortress set in parkland in central Belgrade. The shot of Brane is broken up with shots of people sitting on benches, children playing on the grass and people buying ice-cream.
He says that they have just heard a letter that was sent to us by Jakica Finci from Sarajevo and so they are sending one in return. Although he is saying it, this message is from the whole Jewish community in Belgrade. He explains that he is sitting on the Kalemegdan on a bright April morning. He says that this is the month when they used to spend time with one another and this year is horrible because they are unable to do so.
He is very much looking forward to the meeting in Hungary in late May because he will be able to see at least some of you there. He hopes that the war will end so that they can see and speak to each other as easily as they used to do. He sends their best regards to all of you in Zagreb, to President Ognjen, Vladu Salomona, Dunju Kohn, Zorana Mirkovica and to all our friends. “The Jewish Municipality of Belgrade loves you a lot”.
