A woman addresses her video letter to her father. She says that it has been three years since she last heard from him. She explains that seven days before the war started, her father left for Bugojno and he has not come back. She hopes to hear that he is well.
Shots of the mother with her children. She says that her children relied on him and that he was good to them. She says that she traded a few items but she knew that whether or not she sold them, she could rely on her father’s support. She says “You were everything to me and you know that”. “You knew how to make my children happy”.
Shots of damaged buildings and a fire-damaged block of flats. She says that in April when Sarajevo was covered in smoke, they were moved into a shelter and she found her children at a neighbour’s house the next day.
She says that three years later, she decided to leave Sarajevo because of the children. She says “I would never leave Sarajevo because of myself”. Shots of Sarajevo’s rooftops. She says that they are now in Slovenia and she is very grateful to the country for taking care of her and her children.
She says that her daughters, Džemila and Ramiza, are now fifteen and sixteen. The younger one, after encouragement from her mother, sings a song of Sarajevo. The mother says that she wants her father to make contact and to come to Slovenia so that they can live together as they used to do. She ends “Allah imanet, dear father”.
