Description: The Maharajah's car arrives at Fifth Army headquarters on 31 July and is greeted by an honour guard. He wears a British Army uniform and a turban. He is shown a 12-inch railway gun firing at Annezin on the same day (General Sir William Birdwood, commanding Fifth Army, is present but not clearly visible). The Maharajah comes with his party on 30 July to the observation post on the Mont des Cats and looks through the twin trench periscopes. On the same day, he poses with the Second Army commander, General Sir Herbert Plumer, at his headquarters.
