- Summary: UNTV investigates how the Bosnian Croat-Muslim Federation is developing in Gornji Vakuf where the confrontation line splits this central Bosnian town.
- Description: Scrolling text says that fighting between the Bosniaks and Croats was amongst the fiercest in Bosnia, over half the town destroyed and although a year has passed the town remains divided. Residents point out the physical division along the road, “here is the separation line”. This town is still split in two, for example children from each side go to different schools. Interview with a teacher who wonders why it all started, maybe there was too must hatred. Interview with a fence painter who says that to understand the current situation you have to understand that people have lost members of their family, he has lost two brothers and whenever he thinks about leaving Gornji Vakuf, he cannot because this is where they are buried. Abdulah Garača, Mayor of Gornji Vakuf, says that the situation is good in comparison to how it has been. Interview with a Croat doctor, who says that it is now much easier to transport patients to hospital through the Muslim side of town. Group of young boys on the side of the street say that people pass through here but they will not play with the children like before. Young man explains that a lot of hatred remains and some people want revenge. Shots of classroom and school corridor. Ante Oreč, local Croat Mayor, says that at the moment it is necessary to have two administrations. Abdulah Garača says that “I’m telling you, I don’t know there are two administrations. I know there is one administration.” Footage of local radio station and interview with the people that broadcast a youth programme. Though it is not legal, they believe that many people in Gornji Vakuf listen to it. One of the school boys says that he would like some small contact with those friends he had before but it will not be the same because his father was killed during the war. A young man says that people can have as little or as much contact with one another as they want, there is no need for a wall. One of the radio broadcasters says “I was there when the Berlin Wall came down, at the moment there is no wall here, it is what it is but there’s no division. This is one whole.” Footage of girls skipping. Young woman says that the biggest achievement is that the war has stopped, the political settlement was always going to be slow and it will probably never be clear who was guilty. Cuts back to the man painting the fence who says that although he has a Croat friend whom he would help, tomorrow, if politics decides it, they would fight each other. He says that no one wins. Closing shots of the city slowly being repaired.
