Title:15TH (SCOTTISH) DIVISION CONSOLIDATES ITS BRIDGEHEAD OVER THE SEINE AT LES ANDELYS (PART 2) [Allocated Title]
Film Number:A70 141-4
Other titles:
Summary: Reinforcements move up towards 15th (Scottish) Division's bridgehead on the north bank of the Seine where Royal Engineers have constructed a pontoon bridge for heavy vehicles.
Description: Armour belonging to the 4th Armoured Brigade, soft-skinned transport and 25-pounder guns and Quad tractors from either one of the Scottish division's three artillery regiments or a 3rd AGRA unit head down a steep gradient into the Eure valley at Cailly. Dust raised by road convoys can be seen several miles away in the distance as tanks and lorries cross the river over a bridge left intact by the Germans. Sherman and Firefly tanks belonging to the Royal Scots Greys plough their way in thick dust through Cailly past a parked Bedford MWC water truck before going into harbour near St Pierre de Vauvray. On the Seine at St Pierre, sappers from 263rd Field Company RE are seen to have nearly completed a Class 40 Bailey pontoon bridge linking 15th (Scottish) Division's bridgehead to the south bank.
