Currently the ICRC delivers these essentials to more than half a million people every month. Shots of public kitchens run locally by volunteers, with food supplied by the ICRC. Shots of people eating at tables. Shots of Red Cross runners delivering food to those unable to leave their homes. ICRC workers also deliver food to children in schools. Shots of children eating bread and drinking milk. In 1994, the ICRC began a large-scale seed programme. Shots of people working in the fields. Early in 1994, the ICRC began a programme to provide prescription drugs for those suffering from chronic diseases. The ICRC is also supplying people with chemicals to clean the water and spare parts to carry out repairs to the water pipe system. The ICRC has also been working towards the release of all those detained in connection to the conflicts. ICRC workers also systematically assess conditions in detention centres and prisons.
