Title:HEAVY MILITARY TRAFFIC IN SMALL NORMAN VILLAGES (PART 2) [Allocated Title]
Film Number:A70 71-7
Other titles:
Summary: Additional coverage of the constant movement of men and supplies by lorries and trucks through a typical Norman village.
Description: Apparently undisturbed by the constant stream of noisy, heavy military traffic heading backwards and forwards through the village of Creully (approximately four miles inland from 'Gold' and 'Juno' beaches). French women do their laundry on the banks of the Seulles river. The vehicles seen here - notably several Albion 10-ton cargo lorries, Canadian military pattern three-tonners, a Commer 3-ton lorry, a Ford heavy utility staff car, a Dodge 3-ton lorry, several Bedford OY and QL three-tonners, a Commer 3-ton lorry, a Bedford MWC water truck and a US-manufactured Studebaker and a two and a half ton lorry and trailer - are typical of the types which saw service with the British and Canadian armies in North West Europe. Posted near the river is a sign which forbids the use of river water for washing WD vehicles. A young mother and her baby join the women scrubbing their clothes on the river bank.
