Summary: Army instructional film concerning the Infantry.
Description: Film is produced for recruits who choose to join the Infantry at the end of basic training, and explains the fundamental military importance of the arm. "Wars are won not by tanks or guns alone, but by all arms working together in support of the Infantryman." A brief historical background (with IWM WW1 footage) leads into film of modern infantry transport (vehicles, landing craft, parachute, as well as marching), and training; the weapons of the infantryman himself, and the support available from other services or arms are illustrated. Scenes of life in a military camp suggest the more mundane but still necessary background to efficient functioning (maintenance, administration, 'housework'). A closing sequence of material to illustrate commentary on the subject of the value of unit traditions and spirit is followed by final quotations from Montgomery and Wavell "All battles, and all wars, are won in the end by the Infantryman."
