Description: I. "Glad to see you back, Sir." Winston Churchill stands smiling and looking healthy after his recovery from an attack of pneumonia.
II. "The blitzing of Essen." Aerial night film of large fires and explosions during the raid on 5 March. An incendiary bomb is hit by flak immediately below the camera plane and causes a dazzling flare. Reconnaissance photos taken after the raid on 5 March and then again after 12 March reveal the severe damage caused to the Krupps factory.
III. "Don and Neva battles." After a view of Boguchar on the Middle Don after liberation (large number of German prisoners), main item is first film of the raising of siege of Leningrad. Tanks and infantry advance over the snow past German mine-warning signs and battered pill-boxes. Demonstrative scenes as soldiers from Leningrad and the Volkhov fronts link up, then the attack continues with the crossing of the Neva south of Schlüsselburg, and the raising of the Red Army flag after heavy street fighting. Inside Leningrad itself, citizens read the news in Pravda and factory meetings celebrate the liberation of the city.
