Film Number:IWM 436
Other titles:OFICIALES ALEMANES CAUTIVOS : campos de prisioneros de guerra en Inglaterra (on copy held) [Alternative Title]
Summary: Spanish language version of a British propaganda film on the treatment of German officers as prisoners of war in Britain, probably 1917.
Description: The Germans are from various branches and include some Austrians. The first camp is a large school or similar institution, with additional wooden huts built on its grounds. One group of officers poses, very smartly turned out. Another similar camp has more huts. A third camp (again a school or the equivalent) has German officers wandering about freely and playing football. A group of five, including one naval officer and one Austrian, poses by a hut. The gardens of the camp and the chapel are shown. A large group of prisoners returns to camp after a walk out on parole. The prisoners have a thatched summer house in the garden and a skittles alley for recreation. One officer, filmed while haymaking, performs impromptu acrobatics for the camera. Others join him and hold an equally impromptu wrestling match before returning to haymaking.
