Description: The scene is set by battle and after-battle footage, including Engineers blowing up a damaged enemy tank. In the depot: stacks of tyres; children save rubber soles from old shoes; repairing old socks and other garments; oil drums are either repaired and filled, or re-used by tinsmiths for messtins etc; carpenters at work; new sacks made from old sacking; maps are separated, the linen backing makes bandages, the paper is pulped; stacks of old sun helmets, batteries, tin cups, lamps, water bottles, respirators, glass; also old metal (wreckage of enemy aircraft - particular attention to propeller blades incorporating special alloys; casting aluminium ingots).
