Summary:
Description: I. "Alone in London." Armed members of the Home Guard keep an escaped lion under cover in Clapham until the creature walks into a wooden crate.
II. "Cairo diversions." Troops in Cairo proudly display their torsos on which are inscribed the names of various battles in which they have participated. A London typist displays her blouse similarly adorned. Other troops on leave go cycling outside the city as members of a club; commentary finds much humour in the discomfiture of a corpulent amateur who ends his trip on a camel.
III. "Personalities." a. Major General Robert Laycock, aged 36, who has succeeded Mountbatten as Commander of Combined Operations, is seen seated at a desk with his Senior Air Officer, Air Vice Marshal Graham, beside him. b. Lloyd George with his wife, formerly Miss Frances Stevenson and his private secretary since 1913, stroll in the garden of their home at Churt after their marriage.
IV. "Volturno barrier overcome." 5th Army troops cross the river in dinghies, then under cover of a smokescreen commence building a bridge. Troops and material stream across and a few German prisoners cross in the other direction.
