Summary: Road clearance and vehicle recovery work in the Odon Valley.
Description: A line of white crosses standing in a meadow alongside the Mouen-Verson road marks the graves of British troops killed in Verson. A bulldozer operated by a Guards Armoured Division unit, the 615th Field Squadron Royal Engineers, clears mud off the road leading into Verson following a period of heavy rain which delayed the passage of reinforcements and supplies to 214th Brigade. The cameraman observes the bulldozer at work as it scrapes the road surface and extends the width of the road. A few yards away, a scrim netting covered Sherman Dozer tank from the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry clears an area of ground for the excavation of a pit suitable for a tank hull-down firing position. A Leyland Retriever breakdown gantry from 227th Brigade Recovery Section Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers tows a broken-down 10th Highland Light Infantry Fordson 15cwt truck away for repairs along the Verson-Mouen road.
