Summary: To alleviate a spare parts shortage for armoured fighting vehicles, 1st Corps sets up a scrapyard near Douvres where wrecked vehicles are dismantled for spare parts as the need arises.
Description: The cameraman surveys the site of the tank graveyard where thirty or so Sherman tanks have been dumped; British and Canadian Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and Royal Army Service Corps personnel can be seen examining vehicles suitable for 'cannibalisation'. Their vehicles - two Mack 5-ton heavy breakdown lorries and a Corps of Military Police 15cwt truck - are parked in among the derelicts. The cameraman examines several thoroughly-wrecked Shermans distinguishable by their fire- blackened appearance, twisted and torn armour plate, broken track links and metal debris. Troops riding in two Universal Carriers are seen driving past the site.
